Our Mission

What we’re aiming to do with our work is to give people a way to exercise the voice of art for good. So far, we’ve done our best to accomplish this through service-based learning in the form of workshops, fundraising, highlighting local artists who make change, and promoting events that use art for good.

Here, we strongly believe that creativity connects people and can make a change that words alone sometimes can’t. Art has a way of speaking to the heart,  reminding us that kindness, empathy, and connection are universal languages, in the same way that art has always been. For us, through every brushstroke there is a smile shared.

Here, our mission isn’t just to make art; it’s to make a difference, one creative act at a time.

Our Founder

Hi! I’m Mia Dalton, a 10th grader at Carolina Day School and the founder of Creativity for a Cause, a student-led nonprofit that uses art to make a positive impact in the community. I’m passionate about creativity in all forms — from art and writing to music and media. Along with running this organization, I manage social media for clubs and other organizations, and I’m a media intern. I love finding ways to use creativity to connect people, spread kindness, and inspire change. Art is a voice, and our goal is to give people opportunities to use it.

Cards and Cookies Workshop for Hospitalized Kids

On September 20th, 2025, we hosted the "Cards and Cookies Workshop for Hospitalized Kids" at Carolina Day School. At this event, students could come and create encouraging cards for kids, which were then donated and distributed to hospitals across the U.S. With this, we were able to connect a school community through a creative cause, and spread kindness to those who need a smile.

*Please note that Creativity for a Cause is not yet a tax-deductible organization. As we work towards filing for

501(C)(3) status, all donations will go directly to events and programs unless specified as general fundraising (which allows us to put donations towards legal fees). We greatly appreciate your support and generosity!*
